First edition. 18pp plus nine full-sized reproductions of woodcuts. Presented in a portfolio with linen ties. Elephant folio (approximately 15.5 by 11.5 inches). Portfolio boards are worn, scuffed and marked, linen over spine faded and rubbed at ends. Linen ties faded and thinning. Internally a little spotting on endpapers and first and last leaves of booklet. One of the reproductions has a small brown mark in the margin. Comprises reproductions of a small but important collection of woodcuts and metal cuts, for the most part issued originally in the 15th fifteenth as devotional aids, sourced from the Althorp collection which was acquired by the John Rylands Library from Lord Spencer at the end of the 19th century, together with an introductory essay and notes by Campbell Dodgson, then Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum.
