Gilt lettering and top edge gilded (boards gentle rounded at corners, perhaps a little faded, sunned on spine). Mild toning on free endpapers only, else internally neat, bright, fresh and tidy. Firmly bound and square. This book was the outcome of Rev Henry N Hutchinson's suggestion that the author should 'write a book for children, to introduce them to the dead monsters of long ago'. It is delightfully illustrated, and evocative. Scarce title.
