First cheap edition. Not dated (but circa 1930). No dust wrapper. 256pp, with frontispiece and occasional line drawings in text by Thomas Henry. In red cloth-covered boards with black titles front and spine. 12mo. [Schutte, William - The Immortal: An Illustrated Bibliography, p.28.] Cloth is heavily marked, cracked and sunned over spine, gently rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends. Text block edges unevenly toned. Front free endpaper absent. Gift inscription, dated 1929, inked onto half title. Endpapers a little toned, with very occasional faint spotting throughout. The ninth title in Richmal Crompton's ever popular Just William series of tales retelling the adventures of William Brown. Not a pretty volume but may serve to fill a gap in a collection until a better copy can be sourced and afforded, and is perfectly readable. According to Schutte, the first edition of this title is truly scarce.
