Spine ends lightly rubbed. Text block edges very lightly soiled. Endpapers have tanning and staining from the tape holding the dust jacket in place (affecting first and last page), an ex-lender's stamp on each front endpaper, pen note on front free endpaper, rear free endpaper has a cluster of small punctures. Staining around gutter in front portion of volume. Ex-lender's stamp and pen notes on copyright page and on page 1. Dust jacket is protected in a Brodart style sleeve; has shelf number (taped on) at heel; flaps tanning and discoloured from tape. With chapters on how men first started to weigh, the meaning of 'value' and 'money'; the first weights, how the first weights were made and where, the English system of weights, etc.
