Thomas Moore (1779-1852) was an Irish writer and poet, regarded as on the English Romantic era poets, his works were among the popular of early 19th century Irish literature, and he was noted for his depictions of Catholic Emancipation, often noted as a Catholic patriot in Ireland. This volume is among his political squib writing - a lampooning pastiche attack on the then Foreign Secretary, Lord Castlereagh for his ruthless suppression of United Irishmen and for pushing the Act of Union through the Irish Parliament and the deference he had shown to the reactionary interest of British allies in continental Europe. A fine - and effective - example of political satire.
