Text block edges and endpapers moderately foxed and tanning. Internally pages are lightly tanned with the occasional spotting, otherwise a neat, clean, bright and tight volume. Angela Thirkell's twenty-ninth Barsetshire book was unfinished on her death. C. A Lejuene, who had often discussed the characters with their creator picks up the threads of the story and adds a few of her own.
