Complete in three volumes. [1913, dated from preface]. Uniformly bound in tan buckram cloth with gilt lettering and decorations. Bevelled edges.  Top edges gilt.  Title pages printed in red and black, with tissue guarded portrait frontispieces.  8vos.  Cloth a little worn and marked, gently rubbed on edges in places.  Text block edges a little toned.  Volume One has some inert damp marks to frontispiece only.  All three volumes have hints of faint and occasional spotting else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.

A lovely set containing the poems and prose writing of the Preston-born Francis Thompson.  Thompson (1859-1907) was a poet and Catholic mystic.  Medically trained he abandoned his profession to pursue writing, ending up a homeless opium addict on the streets of London.  He was rescued by an elderly couple enamored with his poetry, who encouraged him to publish.
