The White Kangeroo: A Tale of Colonial Life
178pp. Monochrome plate frontispiece and further similar illustrations. Publisher's catalogue bound in at rear. Pictorially decorated cloth boards, with illustrations on front and spine, gilt titles and finishes - very attractive. Top edge gilded. (Boards a little rubbed and scuffed at edges and around joints). Prize presentation plate on front endpaper, indicating the volume was awarded to Harold Bell, for diligence and good conduct, at Kilburn Lane HG School (London) in July 1904. Light spotting and a few marks on pages. Strong, sound copy of this now very hard to find title. No doubt no longer politically correct but a story that has been deemed culturally important for its insight into colonial life and attitudes in Australia at the end of the 19th century.
