Jane Austen abandoned writing The Watsons. Others have attempted the task of completion; her niece, Catherine Hubback, published a continuation in 1850 and Austen's initial fragment was published by her great-nephew William Austen-Leigh in 1871. This continuation was completed by Catherine Hubback's granddaughter (Jane Austen's great grand-neice) Edith Brown and her husband Francis. This is the first edition of that continuation.
