[viii] 187, [4] plus colour plate frontispiece with captioned tissue guard and numerous further colour plates with captioned tissue guards. Strong cloth illustrated boards (rubbed, worn, a couple of minor indentations on edges, moderately soiled and faded, rounded at corners). Beautiful art deco endpapers. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight, barring the occasional small, neat public library ownership stamp. The second of only two editions of this important annual to be produced, the other published in 1903. Houseman and Maugham are often cited as the editors of this annual, as they were of the 1903, but later research reveals their involvement to be questionable. Notable as it contains "Two Songs" by James Joyce, preceding his first book, Chamber Music, by two years.
