Undated but circa 1720, in a later, 20th century, quarter leather binding. xiv, 46pp. In cream boards with tan leather spine, gilt titles (boards are a little marked, with three small scuffs on front, lightly rounded at corners and spine tips). Pages toned, with a few small manuscript marks, a previous owner has doodled a head and shoulders in ink on the last leaf. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper. This edition includes the additional explanatory preface which Defoe penned in 1703. A satirical poem first published in 1701, in which Defoe defends William III against xenophobic attacks - which quickly became a best-seller, going through at least 30 editions in Defoe's lifetime.
