Austrian historian Stefan Zweig's Decisive Moments in History was first published in German in 1927. The first edition contained just five miniatures although through later editions that nunber grew to 14. Its first English translation was published in 1940 as The Tide of Fortune: Twelve Historical Miniatures, with the miniatures all relating to world-changing events in history.
