Second edition, second printing.  464pp.  In blue cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine.  12mo.  Very gently rubbed at corners and spine ends.  Hint of toning on pages.  In its original dust wrapper, chipped and chapped at edges with minor loss at edges in places, a little toned, more markedly over spine.  Homer's Odyssey, written not for children or academics but for ordinary people, has been a best-seller for 3000 years.  It was the first great novel.  Many translations of this story of human passions, adventuring and exaulted devotion and brutal vengence have focussed on the classical tradition and poetic language.  Rouse's translation, in plain English, is meant for ordinary people once again.
