The River Tyne: Its History and Resources
xvi, 248pp, [8], advertisements. With engraved frontispiece showing Shields Harbour and seven further engravings, and seven plans of which five are large fold-outs and two are double-spread plans. Bound in full leather with gilt decorations front, rear and spine, five raised bands on spine, with gilt titles and decorations in panels, outer gilt dentelles, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers with gilded borders, green silk ribbon marker bound in. 8vo. Boards are lightly rubbed on corners and spine ends, and a couple of small marks. Previous owner's name on flyleaf, with small bookbinder's stamp opposite; a couple of the fold-outs are slightly offset and therefore have some minor damage on extreme edges; hint of tanning on advertisement pages only. A local history classic, the most authoritative and detailed history of the River Tyne, written by the Secretary to the River Tyne Improvement Commission. A really lovely, robust copy of this hard to find title.
