lxxxi, 688, 41, [10]pp. Fully bound in brown calf's leather with red and black spine labels, gilt lettering and dentelles (boards are worn, rubbed at edges, a little chipped on spine joints, marked and blown along leading edges, suggesting old water damage). Internally first few leaves also affected by old water damage, gutters cracked between endpapers, some edge wear and edge damage to first and last few leaves, and some occasional marks and signs of fingering, but remains solid, firmly bound and usefully readable. Horse racing results, with extra information such as the rules for national hunt and flat racing, some breading information and Grand National Steeplechase rules. Weatherby's have produced an annual racing calendar annually since the late 18th century when James Weatherby was appointed as Secretary of the Jockey Club and Keeper of the Match Book at Newmarket. It is one of the oldest sporting journals. Tall, compact 16mo.
