264pp. Lavishly illustrated in full colour depicting all the tapestry's panels. Hardback in red cloth boards with gilt titles. Oblong 4to. Front endpaper a tad warped. In its original pictorial dust jacket (corners very slightly rounded). Additional leaflets regarding the tapestry and slim guide book from 2011 laid in. The Prestonpans Tapestry is a large embroidery created in Prestonpans, East Lothian, Scotland. The design & style are inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry; but the Prestonpans Tapestry traces the events before, during and after the Battle of Prestonpans in September 1745, when Bonnie Prince Charlie's forces defeated Cope's Hanoverian Army. The Prestonpans Tapestry is an embroidered cloth, rather than a woven tapestry. More than 200 embroiderers created the work over a two-year period. The book was published when the tapestry first went on display. A handsome volume. Gift quality.
