The NBC Symphony Orchestra as a radio orchestra founded by the Radio Corporation of America for the conductor Arturo Tocanini. It performed weekly, with its first performance in November 1937. This volume celebrates the orchestra and its work with an overview of the music scene it was created in, a history of the orchestra and biographies of its conductor (which included Leopold Stokowski), biographies of other personnel, a series of charcoal portraits and a selection of candid camera photographs.
