The preface states that new evidence has made this edition necessary, with additional material included. Principles pertaining to the summation of forces, axes, nutation, gyration and precession are more accurately explained and diagrams have been corrected and new ones added. Part 1 studies motion and forces. Part 2 applies this in the chapters on running, hurdling and steeplechasing, jumping, pole volting and throwing.
