The Marjon (seven issues, from 1946-1948)
[1946-48]. Seven issues of 'The Marjon', the magazine of the College of S Mark and S John (now known as Plymouth Marjon University). These issues date from 1946-48, before the College relocated from London to Plymouth. The set comprises Spring 1946, Summer 1946, Autumn 1946, Spring 1947, Summer 1947, Autumn 1947 and Spring 1948. All are stapled booklets in blue card covers of roughly 30 to 40 pages. 8vo. They contain the usual material of college magazines - news articles, sporting resulting, society news etc, but also a selection of articles on the history of the college and perhaps most interestingly, reflections on war time service and experiences of some of the college students, old boys and staff. All are in close to very good or very good condition: covers a little worn, with tanned spines. The Spring 1946 issue has a curled corner affecting the front cover and the first few pages. The Summer 1947 issue has a crease on the front cover and an inscription, 'with the compliments of the editors', inside the front cover. All are internally neat, clean, bright and tight.
