Complete in four volumes. 1936-38. All four volumes uniformly bound in orange cloth with black illustrations, decorations and lettering. Each volume has a monochrome plate frontispiece and further black and white illustrations and drawings in text. 12mos. Covers are worn and faded, moderately rubbed on edges, rounded at corners and spine ends, marked (with pen and ink) and sunned over spines. Test block edges darkened. Each volume has an ink inscription on the front free endpaper and two have a further purple school stamp. Some mild toning on endpapers, and the occasional small mark or mild signs of fingering throughout. A good set of used books, covering the history of England up to the early 20th century, aimed at a school pupil, young adult audience. Uncommon as a full set.
