This, the second edition, contains much additional material to the first edition (published 1909), including many of Sterne's letters never before printed, and reproductions of the original manuscripts. Uniformly bound in red cloth, with blind motif on front and gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Top edge gilt, all other edges deckled. (Boards just a little rounded on corners, volume one has a some marking on front panel). Internally neat, clean, tight and bright barring some signs of a bookplate having been removed from the front paste down endpaper in each volume and a library ownership stamp on the copyright page. A nice, handsome set.
