[1932] First edition, first impression. 138pp, with a coloured frontispiece and further line drawings, some full page and some in text, all by Cecil Aldin. In beige cloth boards with red titles on spine. 8vo. Boards a little rounded and discoloured spine ends. Top text block edge dust darkened. Previous owner's name neatly on slightly toned endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, a little chipped at corners and base of spine, lightly rubbed at spine head, a few small indentations along rear upper edge. Dust jacket also by Cecil Aldin. Dust jacket now protected in a Brodart-style clear wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. A slip from the publishers loosely laid in. A remarkably well-preserved children's book from the 1930s, presents well. The two 'Jerry' stories, this and Jerry, The Story of an Exmoor Pony' were the only two pony books Cecil Aldin illustrated. Only the earliest printings of both feature Cecil Aldin illustrated dust jackets.
