The Home Beautiful, The Wedded Life
[1912]. 16, [2], 164pp. Coloured and decorated endpapers. Tissue-guarded colour frontispiece. Bordered and decorated title page with three colour printing. With red and black lettering, borders and page decorations throughout. In cream cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and elaborate gilt decorations to front and spine, top edge gilded, all others deckled. Satin ribbon marker bound in (boards are just a little rubbed at edges, gently worn and slightly soiled). Endpapers and text block edges a little spotted. A family snapshot dated 1894 pasted to front free endpaper. The first 8 leaves compromise a presentation panel and space for family details. These have been largely completed, indicating the volume was presented to James Robinson and Ruth Edmeston, married in 1907, with the following six leaves giving details of their lives and children etc. Else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. 4to. What follows is a gentle treatise on the respective roles of husbands and wives in securing a happy marriage (1910s style!). A truly beautiful book. Uncommon, hard to find title.
