The Holy Bible, Containing the Old and New Testaments; Translated out of the Original Tongues: And with the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised
The authorised, King James version of the Holy Bible, appointed for use in services, including the Old and New Testaments, and Unpaginated, but several hundred pages. Printed in two columns. Half bound in black leather over textured black leather boards, gilt lettering on a decorated spine. Marbled, likely replacement, endpapers. This huge bible measures approximately 18.5 by 11.5 by 3.5 inches and weighs approximately 8 kilos. Elephant folio. The boards are a little grazed, lightly rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, small indentation on leading edge, and with an age and use patina. Text block edges darkened. The first four leaves have some soiling, one has flat creasing, and edge damage which has been repaired with clear tap; and a section of around 20 leaves in the centre have restoration work and old tape repairs; a few minor annotations and occasional page edge damage. Overall a hugely impressive, imposing and pleasing volume. .
