viii, 180pp. Engraved frontispiece showing Thirsk Church, vignette of Byland Abbey on title page, and two further full page engravings, one showing Rievalx (Rievaulx) Abbey and the other the font in South Kilvington Church; occasional other decorations in text. In its original binding. Half bound in leather over marbled card, five panels and title label on spine, marbled text block edges (boards worn, especially at edges, with some scuffing, marked around spine, title label mostly chipped away).
