Complete in two volumes. Second edition. xvi, 380pp, with one folding map; xviii, 306pp, with two folding maps. Half bound in tan claf's leather over marbled boards, gilt lettering and rules on spine. Boards are heavily worn, rubbed all over and rounded at corners and spine ends, discoloured; the front panels of both volumes are partially detached, cracking hinges. Leather dry and crumbling. Label and bookplate from the Lords Elphinstone's Carberry Tower Library on the front paste down of each volume. Some rusting and toning to first and last few leaves in each, faint and occasional spotting throughout. The leaves of volume two show uneven compression because of the insertation of the two, large, folding maps. A nice, and hard to find, which would lend itself to rebinding if desired.
History history of the Campaigns of 1796 was published anonymously but is widely credited to Thomas Graham, 1st Baron on Lynedoch, who took part if the campaign as a British military commander.
