[1952] 256pp. Brown cloth-covered boards (a little worn at edges, rounded at corners, small black mark on front). Ex library, with lending marks on front endpaper. Occasional spotting. In an original period dust jacket (lightly rubbed at edges, frayed at spine tips, odd small crease, mild spotting on reverse). The Book Club was one of several book clubs founded by the famous London bookseller, Foyles, in the 1940s and 1950s, selecting quality contemporary fiction to share with its readers. Volumes were typically issued very soon after their trade publication and with dust jackets and artwork near identical, the name of the book club replacing that of the publisher. 0
