Two uniform volumes presenting addresses by Henry Drummond on the theme of Christian life. Both are later editions. The Greatest Thing in the World, 1891, 64pp; Pax Vobiscum, 1890, 62pp. Both volume in faux vellum covers with gilt lettering and decoration (slightly discoloured, a little worn at edges, darked around spine, slightly scuffed at spine tips). Internally a little spotting else neat, clean, bright and tight. Pax Vobiscum has a previous owner's gift inscription on the front free endpaper, dated 1892. 12 mo. Drummond was a Scottish evangelist, biologist and writer. Many of his works and lectures were closely tailored to the immediate needs of his audience at the cost of long-term relevance but in his time he was one of the most religiously influential men of his generation and 'The Greatest Thing in the World, in particular, remains compelling for many in the Christian Community. Although available now as digital reprints, original contemporary copies such as these are uncommon. Pleasing, vintage volumes.
