Complete in six volumes.  All six volumes uniformly bound and presented.  Tissued guarded colour plate frontispiece and numerous black and white illustrations throughout each volume.  Bound in decorated green publisher's cloth, with trellis design front and spine, gilt titles on spine.  Coloured endpapers.  Large 4to.  Cloth is a little darkened, rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, some minor cracks in cloth at spine heads.  Text block edges darkened.  Endpapers and tissue guards are tanned, with some faint and occasional spotting elsewhere but generally internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  A handsome and very heavy set of this classic and extensive gardening guide.  Important set of books, both in terms of book design and gardening. Held by the National Art Museum, the London Library, The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew and the Natural History Museum in London, among others.
