The Drury Lane Reliable Coat System, Being Part One of the Series of Reliable Systems
Undated but circa 1880 (preface dated 1879). 36pp plus 12 full page patterns. Paper-covered boards with linen over spine. Errata slip bound in. 4to. Boards heavily worn and rubbed, corners rubbed through and rounded, spine cloth rubbed especially at tips, soiled and marked. Hinges cracked causing both front and rear boards loosening and weak binding. Pencil notes and patterns on mildly toned endpapers. Numerous blank pages have been filled with pencilled patterns for making coats. Occasional pencil notes against text. A complete introduction to and description of the 'Reliable System' for tailoring coats, with measurements, fitting guidance and cutting patterns. An insight into the modes of tailoring of the late 19th century. Very hard to find.
