Two booklets from the Edinburgh International Festival, 1957. The first, a 12pp stapled booklet, is the programme for a concert by the Deller Consort at the Freemasons' Hall on 2nd September 1957, with extensive notes on the selection of songs (booklet is mildly worn on covers, with a small spot in the top right corner and staples a little oxidized, occasional pencil marks). Signed by Alfred Deller on the front cover). It's not clear whether the signature indicates that this was his copy, or whether he signed it for someone else. The second is a promotional leaflet of 8pp, giving a full programme for the Edinburgh International Festival along with other details, ticket order form etc (a little worn on covers, else neat, clean, bright and tight. Alfred Deller was a prominent English singer, and one of the leading figures behind the revival of interest in the countertenor voice in Renaissance and Baroque music in the mid 20th century. He formed his Consort of Singers in 1950 for the purpose of giving authentic and stylish interpretations of English madrigals.
