The Death of Abel, In Five Books, Attempted from the German of Mr Gessner
iv, 154pp (of the 160 called for). With 12 oval woodcuts. Boards absent, backstrip on text block. A provincial printing of Solomon Gressner's The Death of Abel, translated into English. The translator is not identified but is likely a reprint of Mrs Collyer's much loved English version. Paper worn, title page and next chapped at edges, toned, last two leaves creased, chapped and portions missing. Last four leaves called for absent. In overall poor condition but the Brodbelt printing is scarce and notable for the 12 woodcut images (all present in this copy. A good collection filler until a better copy can be acquired.
