20pp, in green cloth covered boards with silver lettering and decorations. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, 'Lucy & Gilbert, with Fryn's love, Christmas 1951'. One of an edition limited to 250 copies, this being No. 53. Boards are just a little rubbed on corners and spine ends, hint of toning to endpapers only, else neat, clean, bright and tight. Wynifried 'Fryn' Tennyson Jesse was an English criminologist, journalist and author, perhaps best know for her fictional treatment of the case of Edith Thompson and Frederick Bywaters, A Pin to a Peepshow, her numerous contributions to the Notable British Trials series and the now much neglect classic, The Lacquer Lady which recounts the true story of how a European Maid of Honour, Fanny Moroni, helped bring about the fall of the Burmese Royal Family at the end of the 19th century. She was the great-niece of Poet Laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson. This is her only known volume of poetry.
