The Cock-House at Fellsgarth (Boy's Own Bookshelf)
320pp. Green cloth-covered boards with printed and stamped decorations and illustrations, gilt titles and finishes, to front and spine (boards worn at edges, rubbed through at corners and spine ends, a couple of small frays). Decorated endpapers. Monochrome plate frontispiece and numerous black and white illustrations and decorations in text. Prize presentation plate on front endpaper (webbing showing). Faint scattered spotting. Before the advent of dust jackets, many books, especially those for children were bound in brightly coloured cloth with pictorial blocking in gold and colours, often on the spine as well as the front board. This volume is one of those, mostly closed associated with the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, into the 1920s.
