Ex-lender's stamps, tape and tape residue on pastedowns, patch of peeling from poor tape removal on front pastedown, free endpapers have strips of heavy tanning, poorly removed lender's sheet with a patch of peeling and a note in pen (bled through to verso) on front free endpaper, tape residue along majority of front hinge. Front hinge stretched. Note in pen on half-title page. Frontispiece is loose at top of hinge. Stamp on title page. Occasional foxing throughout, heavier towards beginning and end of volume. Dust jacket protected by a Brodart-style sleeve. Dust jacket spine sun-faded, chipping at ends. Tanning along top and bottom edge of covers, chipping at corners, <5cm tear at bottom corner of front cover, <2cm sections of loss at top corners of front flap, price clipped, rear flap has had a length cut away (affecting text).
