xi, 90pp plus publisher's adverts at rear. Blind embossed and ruled cloth boards with gilt titles front and spine (worn, rubbed at edges, slightly frayed at spine ends, patchily faded). Inscription on front free endpaper indicated the book was given to one J W Poole by Lady Louisa Whitmore in July 1846. Lady Louisa was likely the wife to Thomas Whitmore of Cotesbrooke, Shropshire, the daughter of Sir Edward Smythe of Acton Burnell, in the same county. She achieved some notoriety when she wrote to her father-in-law, an MP, complaining of the state of health of her children, on which grounds he was released from parliamentary duties. She is also listed as one of the subscribers to the book, pre-pruchasing five copies. Else, internally neat, clean bright and tight barring the occasional pencil mark.
