A mammoth volume. Unpaginated. Many full pages of engraved illustrations. Printed in two columns, with shoulder notes.Fully bound in plain brown leather, blind embossed decorations on front and rear panels, five raised bands on spine. 4to (approximately 10.5 by 8 by 4.5 inches). . Leather worn, scratched and scuffed, heavily rubbed at edges, corners and spine ends, a few small chips, one on spine. Text block edges darkened. Endpapers spotted, front hinge cracked despite bookbinder's tape repair. Front pastedown as a small previous owner's label. Additional leaf tipped in, worn, misfitted and creased, indicating that the volume belonged to Amelia Stevens in 1764. Title page discoloured and creased with some damage at edges, else some mild signs of toning, smudging and use throughout.
