The Book of Common Prayer and Administration of the Sacraments, and other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, according to the use of the Church of England, together with the Psalter or Psalms of David
[Circa 1770]. Unpaginated. An extraordinarily evocative little volume, standing just short of four inches tall (so technically a miniature book to all, other than US colleagues). Deep red full leather binding, three raised bands to spine, gilt motif and decorations on boards and spine, marbled endpapers, silk ribbon marker. In (much later) slipcase of card and canvas. Boards rubbed, especially on corners, darkened at base of slightly sunned spine. Minor loss on rear upper corner. Minor loss on end of endpaper, a little rippled with age. Pages tanned at edges. Title page absent otherwise tight and firm in binding. Pencil marks on last plain page. Some softening and rounding at corners. The table of feasts commences in 1771, so 1770 or 1771 likely printing date. Published under command of George III given at Bute in 1763.
