Dark green cloth-covered boards, gilt decorations on front, gilt titles on front and spine, some black and white diagrams and a fold-out map. 8vo. . Very light soiling to boards. Spine moderately stained at head, ends heavily rubbed with cloth wearing through and 2 less than 3cm splits at head. Bottom edges worn, corners heavily rubbed and rounded with cloth worn through. Text block edges lightly foxed, top edge dusty. Endpapers moderately tanned. Gutters stretch in places, volume quite loose. Moderate foxing towards beginning and end of volume. Dust jacket spine is heavily sun-faded, torn with closed tears and areas of minor loss. Revised and rewritten by Thomas Ashby.
