[1733] Lacks title page. [2], 166pp, [1], 74pp. Numerous wood engravings in text. 8vo.  No binding but text block firmly gathered and robust, barring the last leaf, which is detached. Lacks the two plate illustrations sometimes present and folding map. pp 25-6 and pp93-4 absent. Some toning page edges chapped and fragile else. Occasional remnants of press flowers, sometimes marking pages. One of the most eccentric and charming of English illustrated books and the earliest account of Ripon. Contains a poem to William Fisher, a gardener at Studley, a description of Studley Park, a poem on the pleasures of a country life, a history of Rippon [Ripon], a Journey into Some Parts of Yorkshire, particularly Pontefract, Wakefield and Leeds; A Happy Reign, An Eclogue, etc. A poor copy but good for reading and research, rebinding or as a collection filler until a better copy can be acquired.
