In deep blue cloth-covered boards with gilt logo on front panel, gilt lettering and decorations on spine. Top edge sprayed blue. Decorated grey endpapers. 12mo. Boards a little rubbed on corners, joints and spine ends, spine sunned, a few small minor marks. Text block edges a little toned. Short, flat crease over lower corner of the front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean and tight. Published by the Educational Book Company in 1910 in anticipation of the centenary of Dickens' birth, The Dickens Library edition of Dickens's works was highly popular at the time and available copies were quickly circulated and much read in schools, clubs and libraries around the world. There were 18 volumes in the edition, including one devoted to Dickens' illustrators. Each volume contains numerous plate illustrations, specially commissioned for the set from Harry Furniss. The Dickens Library edition remains one of the most loved collection of Dickens.
