An 11 volumes set of Swallows and Amazon's adventures. Includes all titles in the series other than the opening volume, Swallows and Amazons. All early reprints (from 1951 t0 1955). All in green cloth boards with blind and gilt lettering front and spine. Coloured maps on endpapers. Each with a monochrome frontispiece and further black and white illustrations in text. 8vos. Cloth covers are a little rounded and rubbed at corners and spine tips. Text block edges have hint of toning and spotting. Internally all are neat, clean, bright and tight, barring a small brown rust mark on the front endpaper of Missie Lee; small faint date stamp on front free endpaper of Swallowdale. All in their original dust jacket, a little shelf worn and rubbed and bumped at edges, with minor crumbling at spine ends. Coot Club has a small nick in the lower edge and Missee Lee's dust jacket has a few small nicks. All DJs price clipped and a tad faded. A classic children's adventure series which, according to literary critic Peter Hunt 'changed British literature, affected a whole generation's view of holidays, helped to create the national image of the English Lake District'.
