1st thus, second printing. Red cloth boards with black lettering to spine (cloth very slightly rounded at base of spine). In its original dust jacket (very slightly bumped at spine ends). Lovely deep green endpapers. The stories and poems in this little book celebrate Christmas. In them, the most famous writer of detective stories is not concerned with the darker aspects of human behavior but of the joy of creation and riddles. Some of the stories are set during the past 2000 years; others in the present day or near future. Star Over Bethlehem was first published in 1965; eight years later, in response to calls from her fans, Christie expanded the volume to include material from her first volume of poetry. It was simply called Poems, and only 2500 copies were printed. This edition, issued to mark 50 years since Star of Bethlehem was first published, reproduces all the Christmas stories and poems, and includes 'In a Dispensary', written in Christie's twenties and reprinted here for the first time. Dust jacket now protected in an archival-quality Mylar wrapper which is not adhered to the jacket or book in any way.
