First edition, first impression. xii, 354pp, monochrome plate frontispiece and 29 further monochrome plate illustrations, with two fold out coloured maps. In burnt orange cloth-covered boards with green stamped motif on front panel and dark brown titles on spine. Ringed hoop at spine head. 8vo. Boards a little worn, gently rubbed at corners, rubbed and pushed at spine ends. Pen mark on lower text block edge, all edges a little toned. Front endpapers clumsily removed, cracking hinge with webbing visible. Half title page marked and creased. A few mild signs of reading use, else internally neat and clean. Slightly loose and slightly cocked. A suspected ex library copy. We would not usually offer a book in this condition but it is a hard to find title and this copy, although not pretty, is complete and will serve well as a reading/reference copy, or perhaps fill a gap in a collection until a better copy can be sourced and afforded. Covers Amery's service as a Special Operations Executive (SEO) officer in Albania during the second world war. Amery later served as a Conservative MP.
