Sir Malcolm Sargent Memorial Service Westminster Abbey Ticket, 27 October 1967 and Dream of Gerontius Programme, 2 March 1960
Two pieces of ephemera related to Sir Malcolm Sargent, organist and composer, widely regarding as Britain's finest conductor of choral works. (1) Card ticket for Sargent's Memorial Service, held at Westminster Abbey on 27th October 1967 (yellow stiff card, approx 11.5 cm by 9 cm, clean and crisp, small mild crease over one corner, printed on one side only). (2) Programme for the Royal Choral Society's performance of The Dream of Gerontius at the Royal Albert Hall on 2 March 1960, conducted by Sir Malcolm Sargent, with Norma Proctor, William Herbert and James Milligan. The programme includes lyrics and notes on the translation from Greek and Latin. The rear cover promotes other Royal Choral Society performance, of St Matthew Passion, also to be conducted by Sargent (10pp stapled booklet, approx 24cm by 18.5 cm, a little spotted on covers, one corner creased over, has been stored folded in the past, hence fold mark across centre, clean and flat).
