A collection of 14 theatre programmes for productions at the Palace Theatre, Manchester from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. Eleven are folded paper leaflets, which retailed at 3d, and two are 12pp stapled booklets in colour illustrated paper wrappers. The programmes are for (1) It's On The Air, October 1948; (2) Dick Whittington, December-January 1948-49; (3) La Traviata, March 1949; (4) White Horse Inn;, April 1949; (5) Bless the Bride, October 1949; (6) Babes in the Wood, December-January 1949-50; (7) Babes in the Wood, December-January 1949-50; (8) The Piddington's, The Radio Revellers, Binnie Hale, June 1950; (9) The Blue Boy, November 1950; (10) Lilac Time, November 1950; (11) Jack and the Beanstalk, December-January 1950-51; (12) Billy Cotton and his Band, July 1951; (13) Programme for Variety Performance in October 1956 (with a feature article on one of the performers, Lonnie Donegan); and (14) Lilac Time, August 1958. As well as performance details, all the programmes feature numerous contemporary advertisements for local businesses. 12mos. The programmes are in generally good condition, with some edge wear, a couple have flat creases, shelf wear and mild signs of use. The programme for the variety performance has some discolouration to covers.
