Undated but likely c. 1910. A lovely, compact, vintage edition of the classic Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, in soft brown suede covers, yapped edges, blind stamped on front, gilt lettering on spine. Decorative endpapers. Colour plate frontispiece by Charles Robinson; coloured title page; decorative green borders on each page, and two further colour plate illustrations tipped onto card mounts, also by Charles Robinson. Suede covers are lightly worn with one corner mildly curled, gift inscription, dated 1921, on front paste down, else neat, clean, bright and tight. The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam is the title given by FitzGerald to his 1859 translation from Persian into English of a series of quatrains attributed to Omar Khayyam (1048-1131), also known as the Astromer-Poet of Persia.
