In a later binding, half burgundy cloth over blue cloth-covered boards; silver titles on blue spine label. Previous owner's stamp on front free end paper. Mild foxing throughout, slightly heavier on frontispiece. Folio. The village of Aldborough, formerly Ealdburgh, occupies the site of the ancient Isurium. This is a study of that Roman site, its remains and its relationship with the present day village. Aldborough was the 'capital' of the Romanised Brigantes, the largest tribe in Britain at that time.
