Undated but circa 1960s. Mass market paperback. 128pp. 12mo. Covers are rubbed at edges, heavily so on corners, little toned and shelf worn. Pages a little tanned. Binding brittle, with contents page partially cracked from gutter.
Volume contains seven tales of suspense based (sometimes very loosely) on true crime events: Rasputin the Mysterious by William Le Queue; The Romance of the Beautiful Sheridans by Thornton Hall; The Lyons Mail by Max Pemberton; The Lady and the Emperor by Max Pemberton; The Sandyford Place Mystery by Sir John Hall; Madame Rachel, High Priestess of Beauty by Thornton Hall and The Campden Wonder by Bernard Darwin.
William Le Queue wrote extensively on Rasputin. The tale that appears in this volume appears to be distinct from his better known 'Rasputin the Rascal Monk' and 'Minister of Evil - The Secret History of Rasputin Betrayal of Russia'. It is certainly much shorter!
Striking cover art but the artist is not credited.
