Pot Luck - Over a 1000 Recipes from Old Family Manuscript Books
440pp. 8th edition (revised and enlarged). Alternatively titled "Pot Luck of May Byron's Home Cookery Book". Orange cloth boards (dulled and lightly worn at edges, a little fraying around spine). Some minor spotting internally but general clean, neat, tight and bright. May Byron - a popular author of cookery and household management books in the early years of the 20th century - brings together a collection of recipes and kitchen tips drawn from manuscripts and family recipe collections, largely from the 19th century, to present a wonderful and enticing collection of dishes and meals that might have adorned the tables of English families in the mid to late 19th century and earlier. The same May Byron who is also remembered for her abridgments of J M Barrie's Peter Pan stories. Hard to find title in its original editions. This, the 8th edition, was the last to have Byron's hands on involvement : she died a few years later in 1936.
